Non-invasive and painless, ultrasound provides a means to examine the blood flow in your veins and assess the extent of your vein disease. With this understanding, your doctor can recommend an appropriate, personalized vein treatment option(s).
The VeinViewer is a patented technology that uses infrared imaging to identify subcutaneous veins and project real-time images onto the patient’s skin. It allows direct observation of any movement of the underlying vasculature regardless of patient age, skin tone, or body type. The VeinViewer is an invaluable tool when identifying reticular (or feeder) veins during sclerotherapy and other procedures. It’s use allows the clinician to more accurately identify (and thus treat) all veins.
Often before prescribing any of the treatments below, our vein doctors will suggest a variety of conservative treatments that may involve lifestyle changes (more walking, elevating legs at end of day) or the use of compression stockings. If you have already tried some of these options without success, we can move on to direct treatment.
Sclerotherapy involves direct injection of a safe, chemical solution into the affected veins that causes the veins to collapse and eventually be absorbed by the body. Sclerotherapy is the gold-standard for spider vein treatment. Success of the treatment is dependent on physician technique, solution used, patient health, and anatomy of the vein. Multiple sclerotherapy sessions may be needed to achieve full clearance. There is no downtime with the treatment and patients can immediately go back to work.
Endovenous Laser Treatment
Endovenous laser treatment (also called EVLT, ELVeS, EVLA and other names) is a minimally-invasive vein treatment to get rid of varicose veins that were previously only treatable with vein surgery. It is usually performed in the office, with no general anesthesia, and takes less than 45 minutes. A small laser fiber is inserted into your vein, and directs laser energy into the vein wall to seal and close it. EVLT involves little pain, no scarring and allows you to return to work the very next day.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy can remove larger varicose veins using an in-office procedure that makes tiny incisions to directly remove these veins. No stitches are required.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Vein Treatment
Our IPL treatment can be used to treat very small veins non-invasively by simply pulsing light across the skin, helping to achieve a better overall cosmetic result.
